What is overhead crane and its process
An overhead crane, also known as a bridge crane, is a type of lifting equipment used to move heavy loads horizontally within a designated area, typically in industrial settings such as manufacturing plants, warehouses, and construction sites. It consists of parallel runways with a traveling bridge spanning the gap and a hoist that moves along the bridge to lift and transport loads. The process of operating an overhead crane generally involves the following steps:
- Preparation: Ensure the crane is in proper working condition, and the load to be lifted is securely attached to the hoist using appropriate rigging.
- Positioning: The operator maneuvers the crane to align the hoist directly above the load.
- Lifting: The hoist lifts the load vertically, ensuring it is stable and balanced.
- Transporting: The crane moves the load horizontally along the bridge to the desired location.
- Placement: The load is carefully lowered into its designated position.
- Completion: Once the load is securely placed, the hoist is released, and the crane is prepared for the next operation.
